Democracy is central to Jamaican identity and institutions, but the number of Jamaicans saying they do not trust the government has increased to the breaking point of government instability. One Jamaica Legal Defense Foundation (OJLDF) is dedicated to defeating the threat to democracy, and hold public officials accountable.
OJLDF is a nonpartisan, anti-corruption group advocating for an improved quality of governance in Jamaica that is participatory, transparent, accountable, effective and equitable. Our experts and advocates use litigation, communications strategies, research, and analysis aimed at enhancing constitutional protection, particularly of the underserved and underrepresented members of Jamaican society, to enhance and uphold principles of democracy, rule of law, and to protect the constitutional rights and general welfare of all Jamaicans.
